You can reset your passcode by clicking on ‘Forgot passcode?’, available on the passcode screen of the app. You will be able to reset the passcode and access the application. You will need to answer your security question to reset the passcode.
CORE Troubleshooting
You can change your security question in the configuration settings of the application.
You only need your credentials when first logging into the EmERGE application. If you need to reinstall the application, and you have forgotten your clinic and patient identifier, please contact your clinician. If you need to reinstall the application, and you have forgotten your password, you can ask for a new one by clicking on ‘Forgotten your password?’ available on the login screen.
You will see the clinical data once they have been authorised by your clinician. If you have been waiting for a long time, please contact your clinician.
Please check that EmERGE mHealth app notifications are enabled on the configuration settings of your device. Please check if you have created any reminders within the EmERGE mHealth application. You can also try to remove the reminders that are causing issues and create them again so you are sure that date and time are correct.
In the appointment page you may see a section named ‘Change date’. By clicking on ‘Change date’ you will be redirected to an external website with further information on how to change appointments. If there is no ‘Change date’ in the appointment page, this functionality may not be available at your clinic, please contact your clinician.
General
The EmERGE mobile application is available in Google and Apple Stores. Use the ‘Install’ button to install the EmERGE app on your mobile.
Once the EmERGE application is installed on your mobile, use the ‘Open’ button to start using it.
Welcome Screens
When you first open the EmERGE mobile application, you will be moved to the welcome screens. Navigate through them and click on ‘Get Started’ to continue with the logging in procedure. You can click on ‘Skip’ if you wish to continue without navigating through the welcome screens.
Setting your passcode and your security question
Before using the app for the first time, you will be asked to set a passcode to secure your data on the app. This passcode is stored only on the mobile device and is not transferred anywhere. Without entering the correct passcode every time the app is opened you will be unable to view your data.

Biometric authentication
If your device provides facial recognition, fingerprint sensor, or other biometric authentication procedures, you will be asked to set it up as an alternative method of authentication within the EmERGE app.
Introducing your credentials
Once your passcode, security question and biometrics have been set up, you will be asked to introduce the identifier and the password given to you by your clinic. The application will show you an error message if you input the wrong password. Please try again.
To facilitate the introduction of the password, you can click on (1) to set the password as visible.
If you have forgotten your clinic and your patient identifier, please contact your clinic. If you have forgotten your password, you can request a new one by clicking on ‘Forgot password?’ (1). You will be asked to select your clinic and to enter your patient identifier. Once these fields are filled, click on ‘Reset Password’. Your clinician will be notified and will contact you to provide you with a new password. Please, note this is not an automated process and it may take some time for your clinician to contact you.
Once filled in, click on ‘Login’ to complete authentication. You will be moved to the dashboard screen. The dashboard screen summarises the most relevant clinical data that have been authorised to be sent to your device by your clinician. Please note that the dashboard may differ depending on the clinic in which you are seen. The dashboard will only show those functionalities enabled in your clinic.
The dashboard screen summarises the most relevant clinical data that have been authorised to be sent to your device by your clinician, mainly blood test results (1), future appointments (2), medication (3) and messages (4). From the dashboard screen you can also configure the application settings (5), consult help and support information (6) and exit the application (7).
You can access the settings page from the dashboard (1). It allows you to request changes to your account and view basic data.
The information and configuration items available are:
- (2) Account status: Displays current status of your account and the date you were registered with the EmERGE platform.
- (3) Information: shows additional information such as your diagnosis date or when you started your ARV treatment.
- (4) Change app passcode: allows you to modify your current passcode
- (5) Change your security question: allows you to modify your security question.
- (6) Request password reset: sends a request to your hospital requesting a password reset. A clinician will contact you with your new password. You will be asked to confirm your request in the app before your request is sent.
- (7) Notifications: allows you to enable or disable app notifications.
- (8) Log out and Clear data: will sign you out of your account. This will also remove all data from your app. No medical data was ever stored on your device. This will also remove all scheduled reminders.
- (9) Remove my data: will sign you out of your account This will also remove all your data from the EmERGE platform. You won’t be able to use the application and will need to contact the clinic to start reusing the application. This can take up to a week to action.
Changing your passcode and your security question
As mentioned above, you can change your passcode by tapping on ‘Change app passcode’ on the settings screen (1).
On the ‘Change your passcode’ screen you can cancel the change and go back by tapping on (1). To change your passcode, enter a new passcode. You will be asked to enter the passcode twice. The passcodes must match. To finalise the change tap on ‘Continue’
You can also reset your passcode by clicking on ‘Forgot passcode?’, available on the passcode screen of the app (see section “Resetting your passcode”).
To update your security questions visit the settings page and click on ‘Change your security question’ (1). On the ‘Change your security question’ screen you can cancel the change and go back by tapping on (2).
Requesting a password reset
To request a password reset visit the settings page and click on (1). You will be asked to select your clinic and to introduce your patient identifier. Once filled, click on ‘Reset Password’. Your clinician will be notified of your request and will send you the new password.
You can also request a password reset by clicking on ‘Forgotten password?’ (1) during the logging in procedure.

You will be asked to introduce a new passcode and confirm it. Passcodes must match. Click on ‘Continue’ to access the application.
Android
The Android version of the EmERGE app requires android version 5.0 and above.
iOS
The iOS version of the EmERGE app requires iOS version 9.0 and above.
Viewing Data
You can access the blood tests results page from the dashboard by clicking on (1) or (2).
The blood tests results page provides a scrollable list of all blood tests results that have been authorised by the clinician to be sent to your mobile device. The page will show you the date (3) the blood tests were taken. View more (4) will show you more details on that specific blood test (see Figure 2). You can go back to the dashboard by clicking on (5).
The blood test results page displays the figures for a specific set of blood test results. The page contains a scrollable list split of blood test values separated into logical groups each with a title. To go back, click back in the top left (1). You can get additional information about the parameter by clicking on the information icon (2).
Clicking on a parameter (1) will take you to a new page where you can view the change of that parameter over time. Click on ‘Tap to view graph’ (2) to view the evolution of the parameter graphically over time.
The graphs page will display the change in your data over time for a specific blood test result. Click on ‘Tap to view table’ to go back to the list.
You can print your results by clicking on ‘Print results’ (1).
IMPORTANT
Please, consider privacy concerns before printing your blood test results.
You can access the appointment page from the dashboard by clicking on (1).
The appointments page provides a list of all appointments that have been authorised by the clinician to be sent to your mobile device. Past appointments will not appear. The page will show you the name and the date and time of the appointments. To go back, click back in the top left (2).
In the appointments page, you will see more details on the next appointment, such as the name and address of the clinic (3). You can set a reminder for that appointment by clicking on ‘Set reminder’ (4). You can add this appointment to your device calendar by clicking on ‘Add to Calendar’ (5). To view more details of a particular appointment click on ‘View more’ (6).
The appointment page will show you the telephone number of the clinic. Click on (7) if you wish to phone your clinic. Click on (8) if you wish to go back.
Setting an appointment reminder
The ‘Set reminder’ option will take you to the reminders page. In the reminders page you can create a new reminder (1) or remove the reminders already created.
Insert the information you wish to receive (2) and select the date and time you wish to be notified by the EmERGE application (3). Click on (4) if you wish to go back.
Once ready, click on ‘Add reminder’ to set the reminder. Click on (2) to remove the reminder. Click on (3) if you wish to go back.
You can access the medications page from the dashboard by clicking on (1) or (2).
The medications page provides a scrollable list of all medications that have been authorised by the Clinician to be sent to your mobile device. The page will show you the name of the medication (3) as well as the dose of the medication. You can go back to the dashboard by clicking on (4). View more (5) will take you to the medication page to show you more details.
The medication page displays more details about a specific medication. Name, dose, treatment start and end date, and medication description are all viewable from this page. Please, note that the details displayed may differ depending on the information available from your clinic. To go back, click back in the top left (1).
You can go to a third party interaction checker by clicking on the ‘Check Interactions’ button (2). This checker is not associated with the EmERGE mHealth platform.
Setting a Medication Reminder
You can set a reminder for your medication by clicking on ‘Set Reminder’ (1). This will take you to the reminders page. You can create a new reminder or remove the reminders already created. To create a new reminder click on (2).
Select the information you wish to receive in the notification by modifying the name of the drug (1) and entering a message (2). By default, the EmERGE application will notify you using the name of the drug. Define the time you wish to be notified by the EmERGE application by clicking on (3). Select the hour and minutes and click on ‘OK’ to set the time.
You can define the days on which you wish to receive the notification. You can be notified daily at the same time, or you can create a different time depending on the day of the week. To do so, disable the ‘Notify daily’ option (1) and select the days you wish to be notified at the time previously set. Click on ‘Add reminder’ (2) to set the reminder. You can remove the reminder by clicking on (3).

You can access the messages page from the dashboard by clicking on (1).
The messages page provides a scrollable list of all messages sent by the clinician to your mobile device. View more (2) will show you the whole text of the message.
Help and Support
You can access the help and support page from the dashboard by clicking on (1). The help and support page provides you with clinical information and technical support.
The App support option (1) will redirect you to a help desk for technical support.
The Clinical support option (1) will provide you with information defined by your clinicians.
